Home Solar Power Kits

We’d be fooling ourselves if we believed that the world’s supply of fossil fuels was infinite. With the rising increase of home solar power kits in households today, it’s becoming more obvious to mankind that it can’t rely on outdated energy resources forever.

Using fossil fuels is literally a dinosaur technology because it’s derived from dead plants and animals that have been trapped underground for millions of years. Once all of this has been consumed, it will take millions of years to replenish it.

Thus, we need to look into renewable resources which won’t run out no matter how much of it is used today. This is where home solar power kits come in. By harnessing the sun’s awesome and nearly infinite power, we can generate energy for our homes and offices without polluting our atmosphere in the process.

At present, a home solar power kit is usually composed of the following:

- A photovoltaic (PV) panel: also known as a solar panel, this directly harvests sunlight and is hooked up to the circuit to create direct current (DC) energy.

- The array DC disconnect: this allows the system to be shut down in case of an emergency

- Inverter: through this device, DC power is converted to AC electricity that your appliances use.

- AC disconnect: required by most electric companies, this component is used to disconnect you from the power grid in case they need to perform maintenance in the vicinity.

- Your electric meter: all homes hooked up to a power grid needs this to track how much electricity is consumed on a kilowatt per hour basis.

However, some families are initially reluctant to go this route because the financial investment needed to implement a home solar power kit seems daunting at first. Yet, if you do the math you’ll realize that you’re simply buying all of your electricity years ahead – and at a cheaper rate to boot! What’s more, your power company will buy the excess power generated by your home solar power kit because it’s pushed back into the regular power grid that you’re using as a backup.

This usually means the credit you’ll receive on your bill (for the solar power you create) during the day will cancel out the regular grid-based electricity used in the evening. What could be sweeter than seeing a power bill equivalent to (or nearly) the amount of zero? You’ll also be doing our dear planet a huge favor by reducing the carbon dioxide you would have needed to use regular electricity.

Like we said earlier, fossil fuels are a rapidly dwindling resource, so we’ll definitely lighten our karmic load knowing that using home solar power kits can slow down the frenzied pace of our consumption. Who knows – maybe if enough families, companies and other organizations around the world use solar power, we might just end our crippling dependence on an obsolete source of energy.

Besides, the world is already fighting over oil as it is, so reversing this destructive trend in any possible way is definitely a good thing!
